How CHEATY works

CHEATY combines three word tools: Finder, Anagram and Dictionary.

Finder

Finder finds words in the selected list that can be made from some or all of the letters you enter. It respects repeated letters. The starts-with, contains, ends-with and length filters narrow the results. Sorting by score compares letter values only; it does not account for a board layout or premium squares.

Anagram

Anagram finds words that use the complete entered letter inventory with exactly the same letter counts.

Dictionary

Dictionary shows meanings of English words from the bundled WordNet data. German definitions are not currently available.

Word lists

EN and DE select the word list being searched; they do not change the interface language. The lists are not official Scrabble or tournament dictionaries. Treat results as candidates and check them against the rules and dictionary for the game you are playing.

Word list coverage

CHEATY’s bundled files currently contain 172,823 English entries and 675,663 German entries (file-entry counts checked on October 7, 2026). These are broad word-game lists, not official Scrabble or tournament dictionaries. A result means the word appears in the selected CHEATY list and fits the entered letters; another game’s dictionary may accept or reject it differently.
